Aloha Referees, Coaches and Parents
Our Diamond Head Region has a long history of great volunteers who come out to support our players. Most of these volunteers are parents, grandparents, uncles, aunties and friends. While it is helpful to have played soccer (futbol in other parts of the world), it is not required. Our children genuinely appreciate the attention and support of their family in their activities.
The role of the referee is simply to keep the game SAFE, FAIR and FUN. If the game our children play is SAFE, parents are happy, if the game is FAIR, spectators are happy, if the game is FUN, our players are happy.

Fall 2022 brings many changes to our U6, U8, U10 and U12 programs. We encourage new volunteers to attend one of our referee courses.
All referees are encouraged to attend our Annual referee update where we will review rule changes for each affected division.
At the U8 Official course for U6 & U8 families, we introduce the game and its rules. Most of the rules are as simple as knowing that the lines on the field are part of the area they enclose. Want to know what that means? Come to one of our U8 Official courses in July or August. Check out the Announcement page for Referee Course Schedules!
As our players age, they add technical skills to their game. Some of these skills involve imagination and creativity but most importantly, they require our player to make decisions of their own. They then learn some tactical skills--what to do and when to do it.
Officials also learn the game's technical and tactical aspects along with their budding superstars, albeit from a slightly different point of view. If our officials understand the players and their game, they will be able to effectively manage the games they officiate.
Mahalo for volunteering your time!
